The older that I get, the more I heavily rely on concealer. I wouldn’t really say that I have darkness to cover, it is more about just awakening my face. Because of that, I am a hoarder of concealers. I would confidently say that I have more concealer in my collection than any other type of makeup. That alone says hell of a lot because when I did a post about all of my foundations, I think there was around 30 of them. So when the Too Faced team released the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer, naturally I had to pick it up and try it out for myself. So, after putting this through its paces for some time, I decided to write my review for you guys.
Why I wanted this item.
The main reason why I wanted this Too Faced Born This Way Concealer was simply because I wanted to try something new. I had been trying out a lot of new base products, none of which were concealers. So it made sense that the next one that I would use would be a cult classic that has become highly popular over the last few years. I wanted something that wasn’t too much of a stab in the dark that it was a good quality product that I would love.
The coverage.
To be straight to the point, this concealer has a medium to full coverage. When I have purple under my eyes after a terrible night’s sleep, I do need two layers. That isn’t a negative on the product. That is more a reflection about how dark my under eyes can get from time to time. However, on a normal day this has more than enough coverage for what I need. That is why it has quickly become one of my most worn and used concealers from my collection.
The consistency.
I don’t know why, but before purchasing this Too Faced Born This Way Concealer, I thought that it was a very creamy concealer. But in actual fact this is a pretty thin and liquid texture. That isn’t a negative in my book, it is just rather new for me. I will say, that one of the things that I love about this product is that it is so liquid and easy to use, making it hydrating and comfortable under the eyes. Because of the texture of this I never great creasing or crepiness underneath the eyes which is a massive winner in my book.
The shade range.
Something worth mentioning is the shade range. The reason why I want to mention this is because some brands have extensive ranges and others have next to none. Too Faced are a brand that do this exceptionally well. So much so, they have even partnered with different black influences to ensure that they have the correct shades and undertones. I do wish that they had a few lighter concealers with yellow undertones, but I can certainly make the shades that they do have work for me.
The staying power.
I have shared this before, but when I put my makeup on in a morning, I need it to last all day. If ever a product doesn’t have good staying power, I cut it from my collection immediately. However, after trying and using the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer for some time, I can happily say that it has amazing staying power. There have even been days that I haven’t set this under my eyes with powder and it still works fantastically and looks flawless. Because of that, it is a winner in my book
Compared to other concealers.
There are a few concealers that I always seem to rotate between. However, there is one concealer that really stands out and that is of course the amazing Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. As much as I have tried to get away from that concealer there is no denying that it is bloody fantastic. So, when I think about the Too Faced Born This Way concealer in comparison I have a few thoughts. For one, there is much less coverage but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The texture of the Too Faced is much more liquids than cream, as the Shape Tape is.

I do still adore my Tarte Shape Tape for the days that I want more coverage because nothing will ever beat that in my opinion.
